Barytes from Strontian, Scotland rock thin section Earrings (ER63)
A thin rock section of Barytes was viewed using crossed polarising filters. Barytes is an ore Rock and contains Barium Sulphate, also known as Heavy Spar. From the lead mines at Strontian, Lochaber. Scotland. This was where the element STRONTIUM was discovered, and named after the village. This is the only major element named after a place, anywhere.
Earrings are printed onto one side of 0.5mm thick Aluminium (reverse side plain Aluminium finish) to give a lightweight and durable glossy and scratch resistant earring. Aluminium discs measure 16mm in diameter and are mounted on silver plated earring wires. Total length from top of earwire to bottom of disc 32mm.
